Many people assume Bitvocation is a recruitment agency. We’re not, although we do maintain a talent database for employers looking for Bitcoin talent. We call it our Strategic Bitcoiners Reserve, and it creates value for both sides.
Employers can tap into the Reserve for candidate recommendations. For individuals who join the POW Lab, it means becoming part of a growing network of Bitcoiners who share knowledge, exchange ideas, collaborate on projects and connect each other with opportunities.
Our goal is certainly to help people find work in Bitcoin. But rather than relying on recruitment, we focus on empowering our members to become more visible, expand their networks, and take ownership of their careers and reputations.
That’s what we work on together in the POW Lab. We get to know our members and support them as they build their careers in Bitcoin, whether that means finding a job, building their own business, or doing both.
The reality is that most of our members are hybrids.
They’re building something of their own, freelancing, consulting, contributing to Bitcoin projects, and diversifying their income streams while figuring out what comes next.
Increasingly, being a hybrid is a strategic way to navigate a volatile Bitcoin job market.
If you recognize yourself in this, you’ll find your people in the POW Lab!
From asking for permission to creating value
Being a Bitcoiner changes how you think about work. Have you noticed this, too?
Instead of simply applying for jobs and asking someone to give you permission to work for them, you start looking for ways to create value. The Bitcoin mindset of value for value carries into how you approach your career.
You don’t have to wait for a job description to tell you where you belong. You can build, contribute, collaborate and show your Proof of Work. A job might be part of the picture, but it doesn’t have to be the whole picture.
That’s how you create opportunities rather than just wait for them. And sometimes, when you become visible enough, the right opportunities find you.
What if everyone is applying for the same job?
One POW Lab member was initially skeptical about joining.
What is the value of hanging out with a bunch of job seekers? And what if everyone is competing for the same jobs?
It’s a fair question. But less than 10% of what we discuss in the group is about jobs.
Members share what they’re building, exchange ideas, solve problems together and connect each other with opportunities. Some have helped others find conference volunteering opportunities, while others have started podcasts or educational programmes together.
When employers approach Bitvocation for candidate recommendations, we’re happy to help. But we don’t want to be gatekeepers. Most of our effort goes into helping members create their own opportunities by becoming more visible, building their networks and contributing to the Bitcoin ecosystem.
Our culture is collaborative because someone else’s success doesn’t have to come at your expense.
And that initially skeptical member? They’re currently vibe-coding two different Bitcoin tools and have renewed their membership twice.
Finding your people
The best thing about the POW Lab isn’t a job feed or a particular resource. It’s finding people who understand what you’re trying to do.
Many Bitcoiners don’t have other Bitcoiners in their immediate circle of friends. Finding entrepreneurial Bitcoiners who understand why you want to build something in this ecosystem can be even harder.
Imagine having people around you who share your ambitions, listen with interest to your ideas, open doors and help you keep going when things get difficult. People you can collaborate with, learn from and introduce to opportunities. People who understand why building something meaningful in Bitcoin matters to you.
You don’t have to have everything figured out. You don’t need to call yourself a founder, freelancer or job seeker. You can be all of those things, or none of them.
You just need to be someone who wants to contribute to Bitcoin.
That’s what will make you feel at home in the POW Lab.
One member hosts biweekly calls where the community can connect beyond the Telegram discussions. Another has offered to run monthly Builder Calls to help members make progress on their projects and share knowledge.
We’re also hosting online coworking sessions to create accountability and help members get things done that they’ve been putting off for weeks
The POW Lab is becoming more than a place to talk about what you want to build. It’s becoming a place to actually build it.
If that sounds like your kind of community, join us. We’d love to meet you.
Enjoy your Sunday!
Thanks for being part of the Bitvocation community 🧡
