You do not have to wait for anyone’s permission
You can just build things.
Four of our POW Lab community members demonstrated exactly that at our public Builder Call this week. They stopped waiting and started building.
From the outside, it can be hard to understand what the POW Lab is all about and who's on the inside.
Well, it's not a waiting room for passive job seekers! It's a place where creators encourage one another, exchange ideas, and build sovereign tools together. For example:
Kat is building Bitcoin Bloom Collective, making Bitcoin education more accessible to women through online beginner cohorts.
Andrew created Spaces Wallet, which allows users to register permanent, uncensorable domain names on Bitcoin, acting as a sovereign, decentralized alternative to services like Linktree.
Miguel, a former banker, is building privacy-focused financial tools for families, along with other open-source projects.
Paul is developing Orange Shift, a tool that helps you measure your wealth in bitcoin instead of fiat.
And Kitti is an independent MC, moderator, and community host.
Why are they in the POW Lab?
Four different projects. Four different journeys into Bitcoin. But their reasons for joining the POW Lab have something in common.
Miguel wanted to connect with people who shared his direction after leaving traditional banking. Andrew found Bitvocation through our job feed and joined for peer collaboration. Kat wanted to expand her network. Paul was skeptical at first, but took a chance and came to value the community’s transparent, non-competitive culture.
That’s what the POW Lab is about.
It’s not just about finding a Bitcoin job. It's about building your personal Strategic Bitcoiners Reserve: finding people who understand what you're trying to build, exchanging ideas, and discovering opportunities to work together.
And yes - as a member, you also become part of the Strategic Bitcoiners Reserve (aka our talent pool) for Bitcoin startups looking to connect with people who have relevant skills and experience.
Building a career in Bitcoin can take many forms. Sometimes it means employment. Sometimes it means creating something of your own. Often it means both!
Watch the replay of our Builder Call to meet the four builders, see their projects, and hear their stories in their own words.
In the call, we explore:
What inspired our members to start building, and what challenges are they working through?
What were they looking for when they joined the POW Lab, and how has their experience been?
How does connecting with like-minded Bitcoiners help them build?
How did they get into Bitcoin, and how did they move from their previous careers into working in the Bitcoin industry?
What are the biggest challenges facing people trying to work in Bitcoin?
What advice would they give someone who wants to build or work in the Bitcoin ecosystem?
If you’re looking for a community of Bitcoiners who get you, join us!
The POW Lab has evolved a lot since we started two years ago, and sometimes we fall a bit behind with keeping our POW Lab page up to date with everything that’s happening inside.
That’s why we decided to give you an actual glimpse inside this week, and introduce you to some of the members you’d be hanging out with.
There are also a lot of POW Lab meetups happening at the moment - from Get-Stuff-Done accountability sessions to Builder Exchanges.
Are you working on your own Bitcoin project?
What are you building? What are you stuck on or need help with? How could a community of like-minded people help you?
We’d love to have you in the POW Lab!
Enjoy your Sunday!
Thanks for being part of the Bitvocation community 🧡
