No Job Description? No Problem. Here’s How to Apply Anyway.
How to respond when Bitcoin companies hire without posting detailed job ads.
Ever seen a tweet like this?
“We’re growing. We need people in ops, comms, analytics…”
No job titles. No details. Just vibes.
Tweets like this are open invitations. This is your moment to respond and stand out before the job descriptions are even written.
There are Two Types of Open Applications
Vague Tweets
Like a casual post from a founder hinting they need help.Official Calls
Sometimes you'll find "open application" forms on career pages. (💡 Try searching for “open application” in our Bitcoin job feed.)
In both cases, one question comes up:
How do you apply when there’s no job description to guide you?
🔥 Here’s What Works:
→ Pick ONE skillset to lead with.
Even if you’re multi-talented (say, Dev + QA + Tech Support), lead with your strongest value-add. Recruiters need clarity to place you in the right pool.
→ Make your offer specific.
Show you understand the company’s mission — and include a short idea of how you could contribute right now.
→ Match their vibe.
Study the founder’s tweets or the company’s tone. Use AI to analyze what they care about. Reflect that energy in your application. And of course — make it clear you’re a Bitcoiner. 🧡 Culture fit matters for open applications, too!
You may not get hired immediately — but you will be added to their internal talent pool. And that means you’ve got first dibs on potential future roles.
And that’s the goal: Become findable before jobs are even published! Talent pools are a great way to ensure that.
📍Pro tip: Join ours. The POW Lab is Bitvocation’s curated Bitcoin talent pool. But we don’t just add you to a data base. We also welcome you in our private Telegram group where we actively support and guide you in your job search efforts. The more questions our members ask, the more answers and resources everyone gets.
This week, one of our members asked about Open Application strategies (see image above), which sparked
A thorough set of guide lines, which is now in our POW Lab resource library
Bitcoin-friendly resume templates - also added to the library
Feedback from Bitcoin a recruiter on this subject
…and this newsletter :)
Talent pools make everyone’s lives easier!
And that’s what we’re all about here at Bitvocation: making job search easier for Bitcoiners, and hiring faster and more efficient for startups. That’s why we’re on a mission to build Bitcoin’s biggest talent pool!
While we are scraping all the newly listed Bitcoiner jobs for the Bitvocation Feed, a lot of jobs never make it into the feed. Why? Because they get filled before they ever get published.
Just this week, a Bitcoin company reached out to us:
“We’re looking for a marketing person. Do you have someone suitable in the POW Lab?”
“Let’s have a look. Do you have a job description?”
“Not yet. We prefer to check in our network first, before we publish the role.”
👀 This is how it works.
Let’s make you findable.
