There can be quite a time gap between realizing you want to work in Bitcoin and actually landing your first gig. You’re not the only one experiencing this.
You know you have skills and experience that could be useful. You’ve looked at Bitcoin jobs and thought, I could do that, and you’ve sent some applications.
But then what?
Ghosted.
Or: “Sorry, bear market. Try again next year.”
Finding work in Bitcoin requires a low time preference. Just like bear markets can be for building, and you keep DCA’ing through both bull and bear markets, you should also be building and investing in your career regardless of what’s happening around you.
But where do you start?
Start with Jobtober.
We created it to give you a kickstart in becoming more visible. This is the part many Bitcoiners forget, but it can make finding a job, clients or other opportunities so much easier.
21 days. One small step at a time.
Jobtober is our annual Bitcoin Career Hackathon, and it starts on October 1st.
For 21 days, we’ll give you practical challenges designed to help you become more visible, build your reputation, expand your network and show the Bitcoin ecosystem what you can actually do.
You don’t need to have your dream job figured out before you start. You don’t need the perfect CV. You don’t need to become a LinkedIn influencer.
You just need to be willing to take one small step.
That’s what we saw last year, too. Many participants posted daily or weekly reflections on what they were learning, either for themselves, to share their journey with others on the same path, or because they knew that recruiters, hiring managers and potential clients were watching the #Jobtober and #Bitvocation hashtags.
That’s really what Jobtober is about.
You might start the 21 days thinking you need to find a job. You might finish with a clearer idea of what you actually want to do, a stronger network, a portfolio you’re finally proud to show people, or a conversation that leads somewhere you never expected.
Maybe you’ll find a job, a client, a collaborator or a completely new direction.
You don’t have to know which one it will be before you start.
You just have to start creating the conditions for something to happen.

Jobtober is completely free and open to Bitcoiners everywhere.
You can do it on your own, invite a few friends to join you, or share it with someone who has been talking about working in Bitcoin but hasn’t quite made the leap yet.
But we know what it’s like with free events. You sign up because the risk is low, then a few days in you get busy, lose momentum and drop out.
So this year, we’ve added a community element and prizes to help you follow through.
