Can They Find You?
The New Rules of Bitcoin Careers
For a long time, getting a job was fairly straightforward.
You found an opening. You polished your CV. You sent in an application.
It’s not that easy anymore.
Twenty years ago, you competed with people in your city.
Ten years ago, you competed with people around the world.
Today, you’re competing with people around the world using AI, and digital employees on top of that.
Sending more applications is not always a solution.
Being easier to find is.
A few days ago, a gig appeared in our job feed that looked almost tailor-made for me (Anja).
Almost immediately, two different people forwarded me the same opportunity. Both saw the role and thought, “Anja should see this.”
That made me smile, because it perfectly illustrates what we teach at Bitvocation.
When you’ve built a reputation, and when you’ve communicated clearly what you’re looking for, your network starts looking out for you.
(I was also happy to see how many people actively follow our free job feed!)
Opportunities don’t just come from job boards. They come from people.
Founders ask for recommendations. Freelancers get introduced. Consultants are remembered. Great candidates get tagged in opportunities. (I do this in our POW Lab all the time.)
The question isn’t just, “How do I find opportunities?”
It also has be, “How do I make opportunities find me?”
At Bitvocation, we’ve been talking about Findability for a couple of years now. During the next few weeks, we’re going to explore why it is one of the most important career skills in Bitcoin.
FINDABILITY is your ability to create the conditions for being found. By the right people and the right opportunities.
It’s what happens when your proof of work and your reputation become so visible that opportunities start finding you instead of the other way around.
That’s exactly why we’re launching Jobtober again on October 1st.
For 21 days, we’ll help Bitcoin professionals become more findable through small, practical challenges focused on reputation, networking, and proof of work.
Jobtober is FREE for everyone.
Participants who’d like more guidance, feedback, and accountability, can join the POW Lab for 111,111 sats and work through the challenge alongside a community of fellow Bitcoin professionals. But all the Jobtober content will be freely available for everyone around the world.
I’d love for you to join us!
Jobtober is made possible thanks to the support of our sponsors
We’re grateful to have Podcasted! (aka Bitcoin TL;DR) and Bitvault on board again, and we’re welcoming BitBooks and 2BuildLaunch this year. We have room for max two more sponsors.
Get in touch if you’d like to collaborate with us! You can find the sponsorship details in this article.
Findability Thought
Every week, somewhere in the Bitcoin ecosystem, someone is looking for someone exactly like you.
Can they find you?
