2026 Q3 Key Takeaways
Miners posted 61% of all Bitcoin jobs — jobs follow the hashrate (32% a year ago)
1 in 5 roles is hands-on infrastructure — electricians, technicians, GPU engineers: proof of work, literally
326 jobs across 57 companies — fewer postings, wider coverage
Mid-level still leads — low time preference hiring: companies want people who already own their craft
Hey Bitcoiners,
As mentioned in our Q2 report, we’re in the process of upgrading our job scraper and reporting systems. We’re happy to share that our new scraper is already finding roughly twice as many jobs as the old one, and we’re looking forward to seeing the improvements reflected in our numbers from our Q4 report onwards.
For this Q3 report, we’re keeping our usual methodology so the numbers remain comparable, while using the new scraper to fill gaps we know about. Next quarter, we’ll switch fully to the new system and get an even fuller picture of the Bitcoin job market.
And the picture this quarter paints is striking. Bitcoin miners posted 61% of all Bitcoin jobs, and many of those roles aren’t about mining at all. They’re about building and running the data centres that power both hashrate and AI.
Let’s dive in!
How many Bitcoin Jobs were there in Q3 of 2026?
326 jobs across 57 companies.
🟠 113 Bitcoin-only — that’s 35%.
That’s 6% fewer than Q2 and 27% fewer than Q3 last year. The Bitcoin-only share slipped from 41% — not because Bitcoin-only companies stopped hiring, but because one mining company can hire more than all of them combined. And that’s the reality here.
What Does the Bitcoin Job Market Trend Look Like?
Bitcoin hiring has a summer rhythm. July leads, August slows down while half the world is on holiday, September picks back up. We saw it last year — 184, 114, 148 — and we see it again: 124, 95, 107.
Bear markets are quiet markets — but quiet isn’t empty.
Who’s Hiring?
57 companies hired this quarter — and two very different stories sit side by side.
🟠 41 Bitcoin-only companies posted 113 jobs. Small teams, hiring one role at a time. That’s what a decentralized industry looks like.
16 Bitcoin-adjacent companies posted 213 jobs — and the top 10 account for 97% of them - most in mining or AI infrastructure industry.
Hashrate and compute run on the same thing: cheap power, cooling, and people who know how to keep machines running.

How many Bitcoin jobs are remote?
Remote slipped to 38% this quarter, down from 43% — 62% of roles are on-site or hybrid.
The split tells you why. 🟠 Bitcoin-only companies are as remote-friendly as ever: an even 50/50. Bitcoin-adjacent companies are only 31% remote — and that’s the miners. You can write code from anywhere, but you can’t swap a chip or fix a cooling loop from your kitchen table.
The more Bitcoin work moves into the physical world, the more it happens somewhere specific.
Where are the hotspots of Bitcoin opportunities?
The US leads again with 49 on-site jobs — but most of America’s on-site Bitcoin jobs this quarter were in data centres.
Follow the hashrate and the map follows: Singapore, Malaysia, Norway, Canada, Vietnam and Bhutan, where a kingdom turned its rivers into hashrate.
Not every hotspot is a mine, though. Slovakia shows up with 9 roles in Bitcoin custody and finance — a reminder that Europe keeps quietly building the money side.
Do you have to be a Developer to work in Bitcoin?
No — but this quarter needs a footnote as non-dev roles slipped from 78% to 67%.
Not because Bitcoin suddenly needs more coders, but because miners are hiring cloud, GPU and chip engineers to build the compute side of their business. Strip that out, and 🟠 Bitcoin-only companies look the same as ever: more than three in four roles are non-dev.
What roles have been in demand?
The top developer roles read like an AI cloud company’s job board: AI engineers, GPU compute, cloud storage. The top non-developer role? Data Center Technician — followed by facility technicians and electricians. Miners are adding compute alongside hashrate, and the jobs follow.
The takeaway for your Bitcoin career: every block carries its proof of work — so should you. Run a node, build a homelab, ship something people can use. A CV says what you did, but proof of work shows it.

What Level of Talent Are Bitcoin Companies Hiring?
Mid-level leads with 44% of roles — low time preference hiring: companies would rather pay for someone who already owns their craft.
Just starting out? 🟠 Bitcoin-only companies posted 12 of the quarter’s 19 entry-level roles. The small teams are where first chances happen.
Final thoughts
Bitcoin started as code, but this quarter it looked more like infrastructure: power lines, cooling systems, data centres — and the people who keep them running. Miners are learning that the same energy and expertise that secures the network can power AI too. Hashrate meets compute, and the job market is the first place you see it.
For us, the lesson is the same as last quarter: show your work.
Proof of work — for miners, for builders, and for us. 🧡
