Bitcoin Job Market Update: May 2025 Report
⚡️ 9% YoY increase in Bitcoin job listings⚡️ Plus insights into who's hiring, remote work trends, and non-developer opportunities.
Hey Bitcoiners,
We’re back with your monthly dose of signal in the Bitcoin job market — tracking the trends, the hiring shifts, and the companies looking for mission-aligned talent like you.
Let’s dive in!
How many Bitcoin Jobs were there in May 2025?
In May, we tracked 164 Bitcoin-related job postings, a slight uptick from April. Of those, 69 jobs came from 🟠 Bitcoin-only companies, making up exactly 42% of the total.
And yes, that’s the magic number: 42—the answer to life, the universe, everything... and apparently, Bitcoin’s share of the job market this month. 🚀
What Does the Bitcoin Job Market Trend Look Like?
Bitcoin job postings continued their steady climb in May, reaching 164 total roles, up from 138 in April. That puts us at a +9% Year-over-Year (YoY) increase compared to May 2024 — slower than last month’s YoY pace, but still moving in the right direction.
Given all the buzz around institutional adoption lately, it wouldn’t be surprising to see that YoY growth break into double digits this summer. For now, it looks like Bitcoin employment is holding strong — steadily stacking sats in the background.
Who’s Hiring?
Whether you’re looking to join a household Bitcoin name or an emerging builder, the market continues to offer a growing range of options. And while the big logos often steal the spotlight, we’re seeing something even more exciting happening under the surface:
🧡 Small Bitcoin-only businesses are booming.
This month, 4 out of 5 companies hiring just 1–2 roles are Bitcoin-only — so many, in fact, we couldn’t even fit them all on our chart. It’s a clear signal that the grassroots layer of the Bitcoin economy is alive and thriving.
We’re planning to dive deeper into these emerging players in next month’s edition — there’s a whole layer of builders you’ll want to keep an eye on.

How many Bitcoin jobs are remote?
For the first time in months, we’re seeing a notable shift: Remote roles dipped to around 40% of all Bitcoin job postings in May.
What’s behind the change? It could be a broader market trend, or simply a sign we need to dive deeper into how “remote” is defined in each listing. Either way, it’s something we’ll be keeping a close eye on.
That said, if you're set on working remotely, there's good news:
🟠 Bitcoin-only companies still strongly favor remote work, offering more remote roles (35) than on-site (34) — a reflection of Bitcoin’s decentralized DNA in action.
Where are the hotspots of Bitcoin opportunities?
The U.S. nearly doubled its Bitcoin job postings in May, jumping to 55 roles — a clear signal it's still the dominant hub.
But here’s a fun surprise: Gibraltar quietly claimed second place with 11 jobs, outpacing much larger economies. 🏝️
From Singapore (7) to El Salvador, Czechia, and Brazil (3 each), Bitcoin work remains globally spread — but the map keeps shifting. Maybe pack your bags... or your lightning node.
Do you have to be a Developer to work in Bitcoin?
Not at all. In May, non-developer roles made up nearly three-quarters of all Bitcoin job postings — 119 out of 164. From ops to marketing, compliance to content, Bitcoin needs more than just code to grow.
🧡 Bitcoin-only companies are quietly ramping up their developer hiring.
That’s a shift from previous months, where dev hiring was much more skewed to the non-Bitcoin-native side. Could it be latest AI trends related?
Whether you're a marketer, designer, ops pro, or engineer, there's clearly room for you in the Bitcoin economy — and it looks like the builders are hiring builders again.
What roles have been in demand?
It’s not just developers and marketers anymore — May’s job listings tell a story of increasing specialization.
🧠 Even the “Open Application” or “Bipa Talent Pool” postings (from both Bitcoin-only and broader companies) suggest something quietly bullish: Bitcoin companies are hiring people, not just filling roles.

What Level of Talent Are Bitcoin Companies Hiring?
Mid-level roles once again lead the pack in May, making up the largest share of postings across the board.
But here's the twist:
🟠 Bitcoin-only companies are no longer leaning on unpaid roles.
It’s a quiet but meaningful signal that suggests Bitcoin-only companies are growing up and investing in talent for the long haul.
Whether you’re just entering the space or eyeing a leadership position, there’s something here for every level — and now more than ever, you can get paid in sats for it.
