Bitcoin Filmfest: BFFs, Bitcoin, and Belonging
Bitcoin Filmfest (BFF) turns strangers into BFFs, uniting hundreds of Bitcoiners through films, heartfelt connections, and a shared vision.
I just returned from my first Bitcoin Filmfest, and I’m still buzzing with the energy of it all.
It’s hard to describe exactly what it is, because calling it a “conference” doesn’t do it justice. Imagine this instead:
“Hey, come over to my house this weekend. We’ll watch a few films, share a nice meal, have a drink. I’ve invited some friends I think you’ll really get along with.”
Now multiply that by a couple of hundred people, stretch it over four days, set it in an impressive cinema palace, and add a whole lot of heart, art, and Bitcoin.
That’s Bitcoin Filmfest.
This was the third edition, brought to life by a small crew of dedicated Bitcoiners who pour their souls into this event—not for hype or profit, but as a gift to the community. At least that’s how it felt to me. You buy a ticket, sure, but it doesn’t feel transactional. It feels like stepping into a warm, welcoming space where everyone’s on the same wavelength, and you instantly feel like you’re among “your people.”
For us at Bitvocation, this event was extra special. After a year of working together remotely, our team finally met in real life! We hosted a “₿-Social” networking session, where participants shared who they are, what they’re working on, and what help they need. No pitches, no egos—just real connection. We even got to meet one of our POW Lab members face-to-face!
The Orange Carpet is for Everyone
Beyond our team, the festival was a whirlwind of human moments. I met online friends for the first time in person, reconnected with familiar faces from around the world, and made new friends I’m excited to see again.
There were no “VIPs” or glitzy stages—just creative, thoughtful, humble people: filmmakers, authors, artists, builders, and thinkers, all trading ideas with equal enthusiasm. You might find yourself in the world’s tiniest cinema, shoulder to shoulder with a filmmaker, diving deep into their next documentary. Or pulled into a circle of chairs, philosophizing about Bitcoin with your favorite author, only to realize they’re just as eager to learn from you.
Bitcoin Filmfest is a space where everyone is equal and genuinely curious about each other.
BFF is for BFFs - Trusted and Verified
If your friends tell you, “You should really join us next time!” Believe them. Put it on your agenda for next year. Lots of participants said, “I heard it’s epic. I came here to see for myself. It’s true!”
You’ll leave with stories, new friends on Nostr, and that inspiring, energizing “We’re actually winning” feeling. Change is happening, and these are the people creating and documenting it. You’ll walk away with a sense of belonging, a stack of new stickers, and the hope to meet your people again next year—or sooner, maybe in Prague, Riga, or Helsinki?
There’s a reason BFF is called BFF.
See you next time?
